Day 5: Yema Balls

I've made some yema balls today! It took a while to finish, but it was worth it! Yema balls is a filipino desert made of egg yolks and condense milk if you didn't know. So inside these little containers are the yema balls and I plan to bring them to school and give one yema to whoever might want to try it! Alrighty, it taste pretty good so I hope people will like it :)

UNLESS.. I eat them all before Monday.. LOL. Ah, I'll try not to.

Day 358: Unexpectedly Fun

I wasn't going to go to my parent's household Christmas party tonight because I wanted to watch the Big Bang Theory and play Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood instead. My brother didn't even feel like going either. BOY I'M GLAD I CAME! Omgoodness, it was actually very fun! I loved the games they set out, it was one of the most fun times (beside the G.O.B Christmas Party) I've had in a while! Who knew adults could be so fun? LOL obviously I'm just joking. I find it funny how there's such a gap between teenagers and adults. Like, teenagers tend to gossip. And to think that our parents did the same thing when they should be the ones setting good examples to us. But actually, they too gossip!

Anyway, the last game was Chubby Bunny. I forced and then encouraged (lol) my brother to join in. I told him if he goes, I'd go too. It turns out, he exceeded everyone else's number of marshmallows in their mouths! The prize? A $50 card for this restaurant whose name I forgot. Anyway, I'm really glad I came tonight :D

Day 357: Christmas Morning

Opening the presents time! Nathaniel got a lot of presents from his aunts and uncles! You should've seen just how happy and smiley he was. He even clapped his hands due to the joy of opening the presents and seeing a new toy in front of him! I can't wait when I finish school/have a career and buy him and Arielle presents... then telling their friends that I was the one who got it for them haha.

Day 356: Christmas Eve

We had a little family photoshoot. We all were supposed to wear red but my parents decided not to and Nathaniel was wearing green already. Anyway, this Christmas we didn't celebrate it with other people, just our family. It's not as lively, but I'm thankful that we all celebrated it with each other. I wonder how my relatives are celebrating Christmas back in the Philippines.. oh gosh, I can't wait until we go vacationing there! My mom says the next time we come back, we'll go back during Christmas vacation. AWWW YEEE. I can't wait!

Day 355: A Very G.O.B Christmas

BEST. GOB. CHRISTMAS. PARTY. EVAAR. Today was filled with so much fun and getting to know each other. I took a lot of pictures, so the memories will be somewhat permanent. I guess I don't need to say everything here for me to remember, the pictures will help remind me. But one of the favorite things we did today was when we played the questions game. I found out some things about my friends I didn't know.. err probably forgot about. We had a ginger bread house contest and even though both Charlotte and I were "artists", ours was the ugliest LOL. We messed up with our icing bag and so everything after that became messy. We did many things, and I'm so glad we made it work for this year. This was pretty much our first official G.O.B Christmas Party 2010. The only one missing though? Chinenye, she had to leave early. Oh wells, hopefully we get to do this again next year. THANKS GUYS FOR TODAY! It was really fun! LOVE YOU ALL! <3

Day 352: My Donation

Last YMCA meeting, Nikol presented to us a little christmas tree with tags on them. There were different tags that were all for the family we adopted. In them, it gives us specifically the things we could give for the family. Some of us decided to get the gift card tag and a tag for the 14 year old girl where we have to get her things that could fill up a stocking. These are the things I'll be donating for her. I really hope she'll like these!

Day 349: YMCA/Boys&GirlsClub Christmas Party

THE DAY IS HURR! Today was our BIGGEST event yet for YMCA! As you can see, there were A LOT of kids plus their parents. You wouldn't believe it, it was like a zoo in the gym lol. I took a lot of pictures too, and I wish I could post some of them here, but I only post one picture a day so I can't do that. Though I have the will to do so, I'd rather stick to a picture a day haha. I really had fun taking pictures and although I didn't like the fact that I took too much (since I'd have to upload on fb and then upload again on e-mail- aah!), I'm glad that I had this opportunity to somewhat learn and "grow" as an amateur photographer. I'll talk about this "growth" after almost a year of taking a photo a day on a different post. Anyway, today was pretty great. Goodnight! :D

Day 347: YMCA Meeting

Before our Christmas event with the Boys and Girls Club this Friday, we had one more meeting to talk about the schedule and other things needed to be discussed about. We found that there were teddy bears donated for the kids and we all crossed our fingers for some teddy bears leftovers on the event haha. We put candies and other goodies on the girls and boys bags. We discussed about next week's plans and also our adopt-a-family initiative. There's a lot of new members too if I haven't said it already (Christine! The twins and others :). That's it really!

Day 344: True Meaning of Christmas

Nathaniel's first Christmas soon. When he grows up, I'm going to make sure that he doesn't fall into the whole "Christmas is about getting presents from Santa and having a Christmas tree" thing. Because it's not about that. It's about the birth of Jesus Christ. I was upset when one of the Glee characters said that the center of Christmas was the Christmas tree. WHAAT?! And I was even more upset to the fact that little kids are watching this show and think that Christmas is nothing more than getting gifts and surrounding a tree. Sorry, I know this can be argued, I'm just upset because the true meaning of Christmas is lost. It's true meaning is centered around Christ. Not the freaking Christmas tree nor Santa. This is my faith, and I'm sorry if I have offended you (if you aren't Christian).

-sigh- It's sad that people get fooled by big corporations and spend spend spend tons of money on presents. Oh don't get me wrong, I love getting presents too and I know it's also about giving. I'm just upset that the meaning is lost and replaced by advertisement of Santa's face and Christmas trees and having to spend too much money which could be spent helping people who need the help (homelessness, poverty, etc etc). More children believe in Santa Claus than Jesus now too. >.< Okay, enough of that. Goodnight.

Day 340: I Miss Christmas

I traded my old alarm clock/radio for this new mini RCA my dad bought for my brother. Shhh, he doesn't need it. LOL I don't need it either but I wanted it. PLUS, the radio is so much more clearer than the other! Now I can listen to different radio stations when I want! I guess this is a little mean... but he broke my big stereo so this kind of pays off lol. And he has my piano, and other things of mine. Why am I justifying myself?

It's sad how it doesn't feel like Christmas is near. As I've grown up, I've noticed the magic and spirit is fading. But truthfully though, I think it's because I miss Christmas back in the Philippines. SO MUCH MORE lively there as I've experienced it. Or maybe I just need to get out more and notice this city's christmas spirit. And for many other possible reasons too.

Day 336: 'Tis the Season for Giving

Our YMCA Extreme Leaders group decided to "adopt a family". We are basically raising money for a mother and her 4 children so that they can have a descent Christmas! So this meant that we had to think of ways to fundraise and eventually decided to have an indoor yard sale at my school! I've been asking a lot of people to donate clothes and old stuff they don't need so we could sell those to raise some money. To get more people to donate, Jomar, Jill and I decided to do a door-to-door thing. Jomar printed over 65 cards with info in it and then we gave those to the people who opened the door. After feeling comfortable, Jill and I parted ways from Jomar and did our best to get people to help. We did awesome actually! We got a lot of people who wanted to donate some stuff, hopefully they won't have trouble dropping those stuff off at school.

Anyway, it was soo cold. It took a while, but it was worth it. Hopefully we'll reach our goal before the end of the week!
