So we were supposed to have two more people joining us, but unfortunately, one didn't get to tell the other and was not able to go. The three of us were bummed out and almost cancelled today's plan. But since our friend Chinenye already left her house, we decided to continue on with the plan though two of our friends won't be there. I haven't seen Chinenye in a loooong time, so I was excited for what little shenanigans she'll be up to when we arrive at Prairie Winds Park. Anyways, Kristine and I got there via Kristine's younger brother... who already CAN drive! I'm a little disappointed in myself, I should've gotten my license instead of being a lazy bum. He was a pretty good driver actually, and I wasn't scared at all (partly because my mind was distracted). Anyways, we had our little picnic at the park and then took some pictures. Kristine and I switched cameras at the beginning and then switched back after halfway of our stay. I took this picture of the park before we left. Anyway, we had a lot of fun and planned to do this again with our two friends who couldn't go. 'Till the next time!
Junnel asked me a few days ago if I could volunteer for St. Thomas Moore Elementary School's play day. I was going to turn it down because I was somehow feeling uncomfortable. After thinking about it, I decided to volunteer since I didn't want to waste my summer doing nothing. I really hope my summer will not go to waste. I want to be able to do as much as I can before school starts again. I want to help out, learn to cook a few things, draw, improve on photography, read the book my friend lent me a year ago (I still have it >.<), succeed as a set designer for Kids Village, make bracelets for little kids, glue the little origami pieces and display it, redecorate my room, etc etc. You know that feeling? When you just want to do everything ALL AT ONCE? Yeah, that's how I'm feeling. I want to do so many things, and believe me, there's A LOT more things I want to do this summer. You know that saying, "There's a time and place for everything"? Well, this is weird, but I feel like I'm running out of time to do all the things I want to do. Because I'm getting older that's why. In 13 days I won't be 17 anymore, I'll be 18. And because of age I feel like I'm running out of time. Yes, I'm still young, but I regret not doing the things I was able to do. With all the pressures around you, there are just some things you had the chance to do, but didn't. And so, I'm trying to make the best of my summer. To do what I didn't get to do and to mature and accept what I'd lost. I know that I'm growing and I'm also realizing things I've never noticed before. Also I'm lazy, I have low confidence in my self, I lack self discipline, I'm forgetful, and all the bad habits I do. And because of that, I might not be able to do some things I'm looking forward to do this summer. And if that happens.. well, I guess I need to remind myself that there is in fact, a time and place for everything.
Since there were four people from the Art Committee who will be moving on with their lives by leaving our school and going to a post-secondary education, we decided to celebrate their graduation by eating out and watching a movie. This day isn't exactly their graduation day, we just thought it would be nice to have one last day with them so we ate at Sumo and watched Toy Story 3 after. In between that we went to Chapters to pass time by until the movie starts. There was supposed to be 10 of us, but one didn't show up (personal reasons). Then one of them had to leave after eating, as she has a doctor's appointment. Anyways, we took pictures along the way to remember this day. And since we had pretty fun, we decided to do another hang out by having a barbecue at John's house! Can't wait!
Today's meeting was okay, we got a lot of props done and I also got to see the finished KV banner I drew on! Everybody did such a good job, the colouring looks great and it only helps and motivate us to do what we can for the Kids for Christ Conference. The only major thing we need to worry about is the huge backdrop that's still on step 1: putting them together. It's a big backdrop, and it's going to be hard painting the scenery on it. We don't have enough time so we need to meet up more with each other to finish painting the backdrop as soon as possible. We only have 19 more days left, so we'll need to work harder this time around.
I couldn't go to the KV meeting today because my dad changed his mind about our family plan for this day. SO, this morning I decided to finish as much text as I could for the banner so that Junnel and the team could color it and have it done and over with. Anyway, we went to Cross Iron Mills Mall and toured my cousin around. The difference from the last time I visited this mall to today was that there were less people! And it was so tiring too, considering the fact that it's the largest single-level shopping centre in Alberta. And just as yesterday, I was again tempted to drink shakes as we were heading home. However it was less of temptation because I wasn't really drooling while my whole family and the Demafeliz family were drinking their shakes. While they were enjoying that, I was holding my little brother, and he was enough to keep me from wanting a shake haha.
This ceremony took so dang long to end. We were getting really hungry too and we planned to eat outside to celebrate my brother's grade 9 graduation. THEN when it was finally done, he took too long to take pictures with his friends. Well, I understand that part, and I would've took waaaaaay longer to take pictures with my friends if I were he, but the restaurant that we were going to was going to close soon! lol, oh wells, we ended up going to Nando's instead. I didn't enjoy my food because we were told we had to eat fast, AND my mom bought two extra drinks of ice tea and coke (she forgot I was fasting drinks other than water&milk)! I was so ready to give all the days I've fasted away just to get a taste of that cold, tasty ice tea in my mouth. Good thing I resisted, otherwise I would really have regretted it, and I would need to restart 40 days all over again.
This is just part of a drawing I did for the KV Banner. It's not done yet, but I hope to finish as much as I can so we can start coloring it this Saturday.
So I said a few days back that I was going to make some sort of epic swan before summer ends. Well I did made this.. it's not epic, but it's good enough. Now all I have to do is take the pieces apart again and glue them together. Hmrmrm, I don't feel like doing that anytime soon, so I'll wait unless I really feel like glueing them together. Hmrmrm, actually I think it's a peacock... swan? Urgh, whatever, it's what it is.
I've been so focused on photography that I eventually felt the need to just stop and turn back to graphite drawing. It was really itching its way through my whole right arm that I had to control myself and start drawing something. Also, I was a little worried that I might lose my ability to draw steadily.. even though I didn't really have a steady hand when drawing fine lines. But I really just had to stop getting so addicted to this whole photography thing- since there's so many things to learn! I'm so noob still but I hope to gain better knowledge later on in the future. Anyways, since my new sketch book is brand new and empty, I decided to draw this little tiger for practice. I still have a big drawing commission to do and since I haven't bought a new and bigger drawing paper, I figured that it's about time to practice drawing something and get back that secured feeling I (kind of) always had before. This is probably my first animal drawing, so I hope I can succeed to improve drawing furry hair/ hair in general. Anyways, I might hold this off if I get to buy a larger drawing paper for a family commission. I'll have to do that soon because I'm drawing four people... which will take a looong while. >.<
Strawberry and grapes :)
Today my family and Arielle went to Prairie Winds Park to tour my cousin and help her familiarize some places. We were basically just taking pictures as we walked around the park. I took this picture after Arielle ran towards the big hill while my brother and cousin chased after her. They finally made it to the top and I laughed because they told me that Arielle was panting halfway LOL. Chyeah, makes sense since she is still a baby haha.
We were supposed to be celebrating Father's Day on Saturday by watching a movie, but my dad didn't feel like going to the movies. We planned it of course days before, but I guess he didn't feel like going anymore since my mom couldn't come (had to take care of the baby). We proceeded with the plan, my brother insisted it lol. We watched Karate Kid and I'm not sure why people are making such a fuss about it. It was an okay movie. It was nothing great or anything. It wasn't as great as I thought it would be but it was alright. And for those who read this post, you know that I can't drink anything besides water and milk (exception, chocolate milk :D). Anyway, I was hoping my auntie wouldn't buy me any drinks or anything, since I told her about that.. but when I arrived there (my bro and I had to wait since we couldn't fit in the car :[ ), I saw that they bought large, cold, tasty drinks waiting on the table. I was like DAAARN. I didn't said anything, I only held the darn drink. I ate some popcorn, and my throat was itching up, and I had the temptation to drink, BUT I didn't. SUCCESS. I really thought that I would have to extend my forty days again (I failed it after 5 days accidentally), but I was able to stop myself from thinking of the drink and focused on the movie. Maybe I didn't enjoy Karate Kid because of that... hrmmrmr I'll never know. But the movie really was okaay, nothing big for me.
NOTE: The girl on the very right is my cousin who I thought was my auntie for a looong time until my mom told me. It was weird for me. Ha.
